Preparing workplan (Eastern and Southern Africa) using World Cafe
Day 2 – Developing workplan
The objective of day 2 is to develop a comprehensive work plan.
The workplan should identify:
• 3 priority activities for each of the following grant
o Capacity building
o Knowledge harvesting
o Policy dialogue
In doing so, you need to answer the following eight questions:
• What is the objective of the activity?
• Why is it important?
• Who is it for?
• How will it be done?
• What are the expected results?
• When will it start and what is the expected completion date?
• How will you monitor the impact and results of this activity?
• How will these activities link up with and/or use the
knowledge and experience of ESA thematic networks? (How
will the ESA thematic networks integrate with IFADAfrica?)
You also need to identify 3 activities to undertake jointly with the
your Western and Central Africa colleagues and Western and
Central Africa arm of the network

questions. After the first 30 minutes, one person from the group
stays behind and hosts a session with different group of people. The
host explains what they did and asks the new group to add,
complement and challenge work done so far. This is done twice. The
purpose of this exercise is to validate and refine the work.
12:30-13:00 – Plenary session for ESA participants. Hosts present
their preliminary findings.
13:00-14:00 – Lunch
