    • 6. Current Status Cont.. <ul><li>Survey showed a gap between the need to access knowledge and grass-root availability of knowledge to share. </li></ul><ul><li>E.g., while 89.8% needed lessons learned for their daily work, only 38.8% generated lessons learned. </li></ul>
    • 7. Opportunities & Challenges <ul><li>Country office and direct supervision by IFAD is expected to improve the learning </li></ul><ul><li>Regional implementation workshop has facilitated some networking between programme </li></ul><ul><li>Every thematic group have worked independently hence no learning across the thematic areas </li></ul><ul><li>Learning across country programmes has not been there but improving now </li></ul>
    • 8. Lessons Learnt <ul><li>Set up a joint web-based platform in the form of IFADAfrica – each community have developed their own site – need for a one stop KM shop </li></ul><ul><li>Process documentation to bring out the lessons learnt for knowledge sharing within the region and develop a competitive process of selecting the best lesson to be uploaded to the poverty portal. </li></ul>

Lessons Learnt Cont.. <ul><li>Cross learning between the thematic communities along the areas of common interest </li></ul><ul><li>Possible cross learning with sister organization FIDAfrique through joint knowledge sharing along the thematic areas, exchange visits, linkage and synergy </li></ul><ul><li>Support and promotion for discussion forum moderators for each of the community of practice to encourage knowledge sharing </li></ul>
    • 10. Lessons Learnt Cont.. <ul><li>Need to financially support international technical assistance to the community of practice as and when required (on a need basis) </li></ul><ul><li>Assist the programme develop communication strategy in order to effectively implement their activities </li></ul><ul><li>Provide for translation of key learning documents to be made available to a wider audience in Africa </li></ul>
    • 11. Sustainability of Network <ul><li>User driven, inclusive, bottom-up organically growing knowledge management network based on a system development </li></ul><ul><li>Move away from an organization-centred KM systems to pooling knowledge in a broader and more inclusive way </li></ul><ul><li>Generate and/or co-produce knowledge to share costs </li></ul>
    • 12. Sustainability Cont… <ul><li>Facilitate the building of partnerships, linkages and synergies </li></ul><ul><li>Foster bottom-up conversations </li></ul><ul><li>Keep knowledge creation close to the knowledge creators/owners </li></ul><ul><li>Resource mobilization from broad base of development partners- need a clear fundraising strategy </li></ul>
