    1. Alfred Hitchcock Name : Alfred Joseph Hitchcock Born : August 13, 1899, Leytonstone, England Died : April 28, 1980 from Liver Failure and Heart Problems Education : St. Ignatius College, London; School of Engineering and Navigation (mechanics, electricity, acoustics, navigation); University of London (art)
    2. “Psycho”
      • Psycho is a horror, thriller film.
      • It takes place in Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. Later, the setting is in “The Bates motel”, in California.
      • The main characters are Sam Loomis, Marion Crane, Lila Crane and Norman Bates.
      • Alfred Hitchcock was an amazing technician who combined sex, suspense and humor in a brilliant way. He began his filmmaking career illustrating title cards for silent films at Paramount's Famous Players-Lasky studio in London. There he also learned scripting, editing and art direction. His first completed film as director was “ The Pleasure Garden ”. It was filmed in Munich .
      • Marion Crane wants to marry Sam Loomis, but they can’t marry because he has to pay the divorce in which he is going through. So Marion steals $40,000 from her office and runs away to California, where Sam lives. On the way to California she stays on an motel called “The Bates motel” run by a man and his mother, but during the night, Marion is assassinated and nobody knows what happened.
      • At the same time, a private detective is trying to find out what has happened to Marion and the money, and when he goes to “The Bates motel” he is assassinated too.
      • In the end, everything is discovered and justice is made.
      • To say more about this film, we should mention that it had a Rope , which is another technical challenge: a film that appears to have been shot entirely in a single take. During 1958, he used a camera technique that has been imitated and re-used many times by filmmakers, wherein the image appears to "stretch." This is achieved by moving the camera in the opposite direction of the camera's zoom. It has become known as the Hitchcock zoom .
      • Talking about the performance, the actors are really good for the time, and Norman Bates has become a famous character nowadays.
      • The atmosphere is thrilling and gives you the necessity to want to know more.
      • About the music, Hitchcock allowed an enormous scope for sensual and lyrical musical treatment. Bernard Herrmann was the composer of the film music. He only used strings, particularly violins, to created an oppressive atmosphere by the slow descent and ascent of the divided strings.
      • We think that the film is really good for the time which is made. The music is exceptional and it gives the film tension.
      • The actors are AMAZING, and the setting is a good choice.
