Great and inexpensive option for small companies that need a web presence with quality email/calendaring options and flexibility for growth

A great option for someone that wants to learn the basics of SharePoint. Most functionality is very similar or exactly the same as what a user would see on a team site in their organization.
Use it for self training or tinkering
Use it for a family site 

Another option for small to medium or large organizations

Some plans include Office 2010 Professional Plus

Public-Facing Site
Intended to be a simple public-facing solution, not a public-facing SharePoint site
It’s *kind of* SharePoint-ish…
Pages are stored in a document library, but it’s not the same as a SharePoint page
OOB themes, layouts, colors, etc…
May or may not be able to edit with SharePoint Designer
