  3. 3. Why are we interested in content sharing? Sharing information and knowledge is a good thing Contextualisation of knowledge and information Co-construction of knowledge Advocacy - we need to walk the walk
  4. 4. Why are we building an Open API? to allow other people/organisations to utilise our data to allow others to contextualise our data within their own services and contexts to allow cross-platform interaction, e.g. mobile platforms, off-line applications

Developing for developers – not something we’ve done before Want to ensure our API is useful to organisations in our field Listen to experience of those who have already developed Open APIs Look for ways we might work together on this project APIs are no fun when there is no-one to play with!

Scoping phase – defining and informing our plans, specifications, approaches to the project Specification and development – working with key partners to finalise spec. Open API built by IDS KSS/Partner Organisations/commercial dev company. Rollout and Promotion – Release of v1 of API. Implementing with partners. Funding development of OS CMS Plugins/widgets to our API. Competitive funding awards for most competitive use of API

How... continued Support and Maintenance – supporting external developers to utilise our Open API Review and Redevelopment – review a year after release with view to improvements Advocacy – advocacy for Open APIs and Open Data and standards Monitoring and Evaluation – M&E of project, capturing and communicating learning

Functional/technical requirements gathering Providing feedback on the specification Helping us test Develop applications to consume our API Promotion of the API – promoting to other organisations? Arranging hack-days? Are there any areas where you think we should look for partner involvement?
