Why Project Angels? <ul><ul><li>EU projects have a limited duration  to create a lasting network that becomes sustainable after project phase </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To have trained network partners in LA countries for future collaboration </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Benefit for PA: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Add special knowledge to your CV </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Create contacts within your country, your region, </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>your region and EU, and eventually, worldwide </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Eventually, participate in EU projects yourself </li></ul></ul>

  7. 7. Results In 3 editions: More than 100 applications More than 70 active participants More than 25 active Project Angels By end 2011, 48 Project Angels with Diploma. Participants from 13 Countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Europe, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and Uruguay.

Success stories <ul><li>Until Nov 2011, the network of PA engaged in the following activities: </li></ul><ul><li>-Placing local partners in FP7 ICT proposals: 1 (Chile) - -Participating as partners in projects: 2 (Guatemala and Costa Rica) in 3 different proposals (2 above the threshold but not funded) -Beneficiaries of ENLACE grants: 2 (Guatemala and Costa Rica) -Setting up their own company in a crucial area: 1 (Green IT, Chile) -Active for Call 8: 10 </li></ul>

Being a Project Angel <ul><li>Intensive course -January 2009- </li></ul><ul><li>Results: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>- From basic information to a high understanding level of the FP7 ICT programme and EU funding principles </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>- Evaluate the course content / exercises / time consumption </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Ideas to improve the course, from the point </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>of view of a Project Angel: more practical; more </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Proactive; increase communication with PAs </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Creation of a REAL project: Youp@ </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Accepted mid 2009 and run during 2010 </li></ul></ul>

Running the Course (I) <ul><li>Implemented a methodology of a monthly modules with: Selected Information + practical “exercises” in each module </li></ul><ul><li>Launch of each module (by email) the 1rst week of the month – deadline to send the exercise before the end of the month. Individual Feed backs and corrections in 15 Days. </li></ul><ul><li>Offering all the modules and complementary information on the Pro-Ideal website: </li></ul><ul><li>ICT WIKI Self learning info Course Modules </li></ul>

Running the Course (II) <ul><li>LinkedIn discussion group to complement the feed backs, share doubts and discuss about common interest issues. </li></ul><ul><li>- 74 Participants </li></ul><ul><li>Continued one-to-one e-mails for feed-back and encouragement </li></ul><ul><li>Skype calls in concrete occasions </li></ul>

Project Angels Future <ul><li>Summer Schools within a new project: AMERICAS </li></ul><ul><li>Project Angels courses to be continued in several LA countries (Run by project partners and/or public institutions) </li></ul><ul><li>Monthly SKYPE calls on Q&A (run by EMF) that will be held from January 2012 onwards, to reinforce the network and provide new, relevant information. </li></ul><ul><li>Integration of Project Angels into the EMF network of external advisers. </li></ul>
