    • COMMUNITY-BASED JOB TRAINING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY (PWDs)
      • Brief introduction on VVAF project of job training for PWDs in the community

    • Brief introduction VVAF-DRIVE objectives
      • OBJECTIVE 1 : Enhance access to health care service for PWDs and those allegedly affected by dioxin
      • OBJECTIVE 2 : Empower PWDs through strengthening associations of PWDs
      • OBJECTIVE 3 : Raise awareness on PWDs and dioxin issues at the local, national and international level
    • Brief introduction VVAF SUPPORTED – JOB TRAINING FOR PWDs IN COMMUNITY in Hue, Quang Nam, Danang, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh & Ninh Binh (2009-2011)
      • PWDs are supported with job training & job placement through both in-class training and on-job training in the community where they live
      • VVAF work with local partners (Red Cross, DOLISA), DPOs and SMEs to provide job training and employment support
      • Jobs available in the community are wood process, mat knitting, embroidery, tailoring, etc.
      • 58 tailoring
      • 13 wood processing
      • 10 mat knitting
      • 4 poultry feeding
      • 5 printing
      • 2 coal oven making
      Brief introduction VVAF SUPPORTED – JOB TRAINING FOR PWDs IN COMMUNITY 162 PWDs supported with vocational trainings and employment at different jobs

    • Advantages & Disadvantages of job training for PWDs in the community

      • Limited resources
      • Lack of professionality
      • Accessibility : It is easier and more convenient for PWDs to access job opportunities in their living community
      • Stability : PWDs work and live in their own community and they do not have to move around or to live away.
    • Advantages & Disadvantages of job training for PWDs in the community
      • Case management is costly and more complicated.
      • Limited resources include investment funds, the markets for handicraft products, and insufficient facilities.
      • Lack of professionality : Training methods are mainly on-job training and trainers are unqualified.
    • Implemented models of community-based job training (1) a PWD is supported with job training (for example, learning make coal oven), Nguyen Dinh Thuy, Nam Dinh city he is then supported to run his own business he employs other PWDs to provide job training and work for him
    • Implemented models of community-based job training (2) PWDs are supported with job training at local vocational training centers which provides vocational training and production. PWDs provided vocational training at the centers Production sections of the center Companies, SMEs, Other employers Running their own bussiness
    • Implemented models of community-based job training (3) Local SMEs provide the selected PWDs with job training. And then employ the trained PWDs . VVAF & local partners work with SMEs to sign a MOA regarding job training and employment for PWDs. Local partners select and introduce PWDs to SMEs for training . At the practice session of wood process training at Tuan Minh enterprise, Thai Binh.
