    • Advertising on the internet is a recent development. Its relatively cheap for a company to advertise through its own website.
    • Web developers create the websites using web authoring packages i.e Dreamweaver
    • Website should ideally:
    • Contain multimedia content
    • Interactive
    • Easily to navigate – hyperlinks
    • Highly visible to search engine
  • 8. Internet Advertising
    • Many advertisements on Web sites are banner ads
      • Originally in the shape of a long rectangle
      • Require the user to leave the current site
    • Other ad types
      • Pop-over ads open a new window on top of your current window
      • Pop-under ads open a new window underneath your current window

    • The company can use pop windows for further advertising products. Pop-up windows are often blocked by web browsers (Firefox). Pop-under windows are more useful as they are viewed after closing the browser window.
    • Companies also pay for space and links to products on other company websites. These advertisements are known as banners .
