    1. Knowledge Sharing within the ICCO-Alliance and Partners Meandering through a forest of information and lessons.
    2. Organisational structure ICCO (Alliance):
      • In the South mainly on a programmatic basis
      • Alliance of six Dutch organisations
      • Along thematic lines
      • Decentralisation and “devolution” of power
    3. Why Capacity Development & Learning
      • Work more effectively
      • Avoid “reinventing the wheel” (others probably already
      • have done what you are trying to do)
      • Keep up with the ever changing contexts
      • Be able to serve partners with “good” information
      • A “hype”? Perhaps but a useful one
    4. Where do we come from
      • Six different organisations
      • Lack of systematic learning within organisation
      • Huge amounts of information and lessons
    5. Where do we want to go
      • Be able to attend “needs” (service package)
      • Six different but aligned organisations
      • Systematic learning within and among organisation
      • Using huge amounts of information and lessons
      • Sharing with partners in programmes
      • Enhance quality of information (research)
      • AND
      • Preparing/making the “identity-glue” for the
      • Network organisation
    6. What do we have
      • Support programme within R&D department: Capacity Development Programme
      • Learning Facilitators – “motors” of Learning networks
      • Research
      • Methods and tools
      • Thematic specialists within programme departments
    7. Learning levels
      • Individual Organisations

              • e.g. exchange events – content issues
      conditional Different strategies of intervention
      • People: motivation / time
      • Building trust
      • Context-cultural level
      • Right information at right time in the right form at the right place
      General Challenges
    8. Specific challenges
      • Empires which are being built
      • “ Production” goes first
      • Competence about “scarce” funds
      • Many new things at a time
      • Reluctance to “publish” (learnings)
      • ………… .
      • ………… .
    9. Challenges- What to do?
      • Integrate with the internal ICCO “Learning and Development” programme (ex-S&T)
      • Create awareness of potentials of Learning Networks (look for champions)
      • Show potential benefits of Learning
      • Buy in PM’s/PC’s (CD/learning is also their problem!)
      • Access needs and respond to them
      • Don’t push “clients” e.g. in to IA-portal (ownership!)
      • Good collaboration and role definition between LF’s and TS’s
      • ………………… .
    10. So we are jumping into the deep and trying to “think out of the box”. Thank you for your attention!
