    • Regional identity is the notion that part of a person's identity is rooted not only in the country but also in the region they live in. Regional identity is a sense of belonging similar to that of national identity but on a smaller scale or level.

    • How do you think you represent this area?
    • Does it influence your speech? Clothes? Behaviour?

Regional Identity Points to consider: Regional identity is closely linked with class and whether that person is being portrayed as advanced or backwards (i.e. superior or inferior) The main regional identity representations being linked to urban (town) vs rural (country) People who live in big cities are often portrayed as more superior (advanced/modern) than people who live in the country – why? If regional identity does come up it will more than likely focus on urban vs rural and north vs south

    • Sexual orientation
    • Attraction : includes emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical, and sexual
    • Bisexual : to be a woman or a man and to have feelings of affection and attraction, both emotionally and physically, to both men and women.
    • Heterosexism : the belief that everyone is heterosexual.
    • Heterosexuality : to have feelings of affection and attraction, both emotionally and physically, to people of the opposite gender.
    • Homophobia : any negative belief, feeling or action directed against non-heterosexual persons
    • Homosexuality : to have feelings of affection and attraction, emotionally and physically to people of the same gender.
    • Transgender : Transgendered is an umbrella term, relating to how some individuals express their gender identity.
