Nokia history • Started in 1865 when Fredrik Idestam established a ground wood pulp mill • Over the past 150 years, Nokia has evolved • Electronics section was started in 1960 • Nokia 1100 was launched in 2003 • Nokia was first to combine mobile with game console in Nokia N-gage. • Nokia Asha was launched on 4 Aug. 2012

Conclusion • Nokia was successful before but lacked innovation and did not react to competition • Microsoft bought Nokia for €5.44 billion which is quite less. • The acquisition of nokia handset by microsoft was done for the purpose of reducing cost, innovation, improving competitive position and diversification.
