Use theformatting and content tools onthe menu bar.When you are finished, click Save tosave the artifact or Done to save theartifact and close the artifact editor.Set attributes for theartifact.When you created the artifact, if youselected the check box toautomatically open the artifact after itis created , the new artifact opens inthe artifact editor. The content area isa rich-text editor.When you embed an artifact withinan artifact, the artifact is updated ifany change is made to its embeddedartifacts. The audit history of thischange is captured in the history ofthe embedded artifact, not in thehistory of the container artifact.

If achange is made to the embedded artifact, thecontainer artifact is automatically updated.Double-click the embeddedartifact to go to it.If any embedded artifacts are updated, thecontaining artifact is automatically updated.The changes to an embedded artifact arecaptured in the history of the embeddedartifact, not in the history of the containerartifact.

Thenew artifact will be the same typeas the current requirement.2You can extract new requirements artifactsfrom an artifact. You can link the currentartifact to the new artifact, or you can embedthe new artifact in the current artifact.For example, you might want to extract andlink requirements when you are transformingmeeting notes into managed requirements.If you right-click an artifact and select themenu item to create an artifact , the newartifact has the artifact type of the currentartifact. In the example on this slide, thecurrent artifact is a feature artifact. Therefore,if you right-click that artifact to createanother artifact, the new artifact will be afeature artifact.To create an artifact of a different type,extract the artifact by clicking the SaveSelection as New Artifact and Link or SaveSelection as New Artifact and Insert iconson the toolbar. When you click either of thoseicons, a window opens that prompts you toselect information about the artifact,including its type and location.
