  • In a nutshell, Mary Jane Carter had a sister, Hannah Carter, who married, Aaron Mereon York Sr. Aaron Mereon York Sr. and Hannah Carter went to Utah and Mary Jane Carter stayed Missouri. Apparently, Mary Jane never joined the Mormon church, along with her father, John Carter. Aaron Mereon York Sr. and Hannah Carter had a son, Aaron Mereon York Jr. Mary Jane Carter had a daughter, Mary Jane Dooley. Aaron Mereon York Jr. made multiple trips across the USA guiding settlers and eventually married his 1st cousin, Mary Jane Dooley in Missouri or Kansas. At some time, Mary Jane Dooley came to Utah and had Cleo Venetta York there. It wasn't until Cleo married Charles Augustus Conaty that the whole family, including Mary Jane Dooley and Mary Jane Carter, moved to Washington state.
