  • Treatment Basics
    • Activities:
      • 1. Accessing of relevant information from the client
      • 2. Introduction of new information to the client
      • 3. Facilitation of processing of information
      • 4. Inhibition of accessing information
      • (Lipke)
    • These activities take place within the context of a psychotherapeutic relationship, which
      • establishes contact and reduces anxiety
      • recognises the positive intention of the client
      • frames the learning goal and allows learning
      • helps with the integration of learning experiences into the future
  • EFT: The Basic Recipe
    • The Basic Recipe cycle lies at the heart of every EFT treatment
    • Procedure:
      • 1. Rate the Distress
      • 2. Do the Setup
      • 3. Do the Sequence
      • 4. Do the 9-Gamut
      • 5. Repeat the Sequence
      • 6. Rate the Distress again
    • Repeat the Basic Recipe for every new holon
    • When the subjective level of distress is down to 1 or 0:
      • Floor to Ceiling Eye Roll
  • Treatment Points
  • Treatment Points II Points can be tapped on either side of the body

  • Reversals
    • Psychological Reversal:
      • Some clients consciously recognize their problem and verbally , indicate a desire to change behavior -- but muscle testing confirms the opposite
  • Psychological Reversal
    • Reversals:
      • Massive (or global) reversal
        • Client is reversed across the board
        • When this reversal is not detected, it can make symptoms worsen
        • I deeply and completely accept myself with all my problems and limitations
      • Specific reversal:
        • Reversal for a specific symptom or problem
        • Even though I have this… I deeply and completely accept myself
      • Mini-reversal:
        • Reversal about giving up the problem completely
        • I deeply and completely accept myself, even though I still have some of this problem
    • Correct with affirmation while tapping at KC
  • Criteria-Related Reversals
    • Test in paired statements & correct:
      • Deservedness: I deserve to get over this problem ...
      • Safety: It’s safe for me/others (specify) to ...
      • Motivation: I will do what’s necessary to …
      • Permission: I allow myself to …
      • Possibility: It’s possible for me to …
      • Benefit: Getting over … will be good for me/others (specify)
    • If weak, correct by tapping karate chop or under nose point, while saying:
      • I deeply and completely accept myself, even if (I don‘t deserve etc.) to overcome this problem
    • (Durlacher, Gallo)
  • Other Reversals
    • Deprivation reversal:
      • Test: I will be (feel) deprived if I get over this ...
    • Identity reversal:
      • Test: I will lose my identity if I get over this …
    • If strong, correct by tapping karate chop or under nose point:
      • I deeply and completely accept myself, even if (I feel deprived etc/lose my identity) when I get over this problem
    • Deep level reversal, test:
      • Test : I will get completely over this problem / I will continue to have this ...
      • Correct at point under nose: I love and accept myself even if I never get over this…
    • Recurrent reversal:
      • Test: I love and accept myself even if this ... keeps coming back
      • Correction at NLR point
  • Other Blocks
    • The therapeutic relationship isn’t working
      • The client doesn’t experience empathy and support
      • Sometimes the practitioner needs to physically tap on the client
    • The client is actually making headway but is shifting from aspect to aspect
      • To the client, this seems as if nothing is changing
    • Core issues are not being addressed
    • Other tapping points may be needed
      • See reference section p. 11-12
    • Energy toxins may be involved
    • (Gary Craig)
  • Options
    • Shortcuts
    • Brain Balancing
    • Touch & Breathe
    • Alternate Bilateral Tapping
    • Reducing Tension
    • Final Check
  • Shortcuts
    • To eliminate:
      • affirmations
      • tapping
      • the importance of sequence
      • the 9 gamut
      • diagnostics
      • face to face contact
      • multiple algorithms
      • or reduce the number meridian points
    • Find out what works best for you and each client
  • Brain Balancing
    • Instead of the full 9 gamut:
    • Have clients hold up two fingers, one at each edge of their peripheral vision, and do about 20 seconds of back and forth eye movement as rapidly as they comfortably can (Robert Yourell)
  • TaB: Touch and Breathe
    • We can get results without tapping:
    • In John Diepold´s TaB protocol, you simply touch and hold the point while taking one full breath in and out
    • You then move to the next point and continue doing this until you are done TaB-ing, Touching and Breathing
    • Some appear to get the results with touch alone, but the breath appears to aid the flow of energy
    • Some clients say it is more peaceful as a technique
  • Alternate Bilateral Tapping
    • Alternate bilateral tapping on the energy meridians might synergistically combine the effects of EMDR & TFT
      • Tapping alternately on the points on each side of the body's midline
      • Alternating the tapping may facilitate an increase in the processing and transfer of information from one brain hemisphere to the other that we may not get with simultaneous bilateral tapping or unilateral tapping
      • As with EMDR, it may be wise to refrain from alternate bilateral tapping with anyone who has a history of seizure activity
      • Testing for the mode that works best for each individual may be the most prudent approach
      • (Patrick F. McGivern)
  • Reducing Tension 1
    • To take the edge off before addressing the problem,
      • tap un or kc, while saying affirmations:
        • even though I have these emotions...
        • even though I am afraid of my memories...
        • even though I am anxious about starting this session...
        • even though I have this anxiety...
        • even though I have all these problems...
        • even though I need help...
  • Reducing Tension 2
    • After the client appears to relax, ask them to guess what their SUD level would be if they would vividly imagine it
      • This guess is a guide to the true intensity
      • This helps minimize pain
    • If they guess a high number, tap on:
      • not ready to work on this problem...
      • this fear of intensity...
      • these emotional stirrings...
    • Ask them to guess again about their intensity if they were to vividly imagine it
      • Tap again on indirect issues until their guessed SUD number becomes manageable
      • Then proceed to the actual issue
  • Final Check
    • An interesting step:
      • If the person comes away from deep process, saying ‘I´m feeling very relaxed“ or ‘I don't have any more pain about that’ the helper can just say, ‘Let´s do an extra round on that phrase’
      • Then, if the phrase was a way of stepping away from the pain, in the next round new aspects will show up
      • It´s a way of giving space to the statement and works very powerfully
    • (Kathy McGuire-Bouwman)
    • Finishing touch:
      • At end of session, repeat three times, while tapping on middle finger (CX-9): I release the past, I retrieve my energies from the past
      • ( Greg Nicosia)
  • Testing Problems
  • What can go wrong?
    • Muscle test results are strong-strong
      • Switching
      • Reversal of the therapist
    • Muscles test results are weak-weak
      • Dehydration
    • Muscle test results are reversed
      • Psychological reversal/Energy reversal
    • Homolateral energy flow
    • Blow-out
    • Other Blocks
  • Strong-Strong
    • Switching
      • Basic unswitching procedure:
        • Press on the navel with first three fingers of the left hand while briskly tapping or rubbing both K-27 points
        • While pressing on the navel, tap points under and above lips
        • Place one hand on the navel while rubbing the coccyx for 10 seconds
      • Nasal Tap:
        • Have the client tap on both sides of the bridge of the nose, then re-test
      • Cook‘s Hookups: (See reference section p. 6)
      • Collarbone breathing: (See reference section p. 7-9)
      • Cross-Crawl exercise: (See reference section p. 10)
  • Strong-Strong
    • Strong/strong responses can also be due to both client and therapist being psychologically reversed
      • The therapist may be reversed on the same problem as the client
      • Each must be treated for psychological reversal, or muscle testing and treatments will not be successful
      • Treat self as well as client for the reversal (affirmation while tapping at KC)
      • And/or treat self and client with a round of EFT for the reversal
      • Muscle testing should then be repeated to see if client is no longer reversed before proceeding with treatment of the target problem
  • Weak-Weak
    • Dehydration
      • Muscle test while the person tugs on his or her hair
        • The muscle should remain strong even though there is a stressor present (tugging on hair)
      • Correction:
        • If the muscle goes weak during the hair tug, have the person drink water
  • Homolateral Energy
    • Answers are accurate but energy field is thick, non-responsive
      • Client feels persistently exhausted, dull, slow, thick, depressed. Treatments don‘t last.
      • Energies are moving straight up and down of each side of the body instead of crossing over the midline
      • Test by drawing an X on one sheet of paper and two parallel lines on another; if clients tests weak while looking at X and strong while looking at //, they’re homolateral in their energy flow
      • Correction:
        • Three thumps: Thymus thump, K-27 Thump, Spleen NLR Thump
        • Cook’s Hookups (Reference Section p. 6)
        • Cross Crawl (Reference Section p. 10)
  • Blow Out
    • Blow Out
      • The person cannot hold energy, is tired, weak, confused, cannot concentrate
      • This can be a sign of approaching sensitive, traumatic material
        • Focus on the therapeutic relationship first
        • Find ‘safe place’ in imagination, grounding exercise
    • Correction:
      • Rub both K-27 points for about a minute each
      • Hold spirulina, bee pollen, or RNA capsules in left hand and test again
      • Drink Water
      • Do three thumps
        • Thymus thump
        • K-27 Thump
        • Spleen NLR Thump
