    3. Stress Management Topic Stress Management Category Browser-Based Design Target User Busy People Objective To reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that stress causes; To teach you how to manage your stress and control your reactions Concept Humor
    4. Research
      • Humor is a wonderful stress-reducer and antidote to upsets. It is clinically proven to be effective in combating stress, although the exact mechanism is not known. Experts say a good laugh relaxes tense muscles, speeds more oxygen into your system and lowers your blood pressure.
      • Humor gives us a different perspective on our problems. If we can make light out of the situation, it is no longer threatening to us. We already discounted its effect. With such an attitude of detachment, we feel a sense of self-protection and control in our environment. (taken from http://www.holisticonline.com/stress/stress_humor.htm )
    5. Research
      • Types of Humor
      • Parody : A style of humor where something or someone is made fun. Self-parody is thought to be the best type of humor to reduce stress.
      • Satire : A written or dramatic form of parody. (E.g. Shrek)
      • Slapstick : A physical farce such as getting a pie thrown in the face or slipping on a banana peel.
      • Black Humor : Relieves the stress of death and dying.
      • Absurd/Nonsense : A kind of humor that is very creative and leaves many people scratching their heads.
      • Double Entendre : A joke that has two meanings. (E.g. sexual jokes)
      • Quick-Witted Humor : Clever humor that makes you stop and think.
      • Bathroom Humor : Farts, burps etc.
      • Sarcasm : It hurts the intended target. It doesn't resolve stress, it promotes it.

    15. IDEA #02
      • In the long run, what do you think is the bigger problem facing our children?
      • We have decided:
      • Global Warming
    16. IDEA #02
      • Thus, we have decided to make a global warming educational software to educate these children. Let them understand the few things we can do to save the world by the fun and education game .
      • Targeting Audience:
      • 8-12
      • It’s better to start young.
    17. IDEA #02
      • In this application, it teaches kids what is global warming about so that they can know how could they help to slow down global warming.
      • I think it is not a good way if we force them to do some ways, it will be better if they are the ones realizing that what they are doing is bad or good to the environment.
    18. IDEA #02
      • Game Play
      • Application includes a super hero called Captain Ozone.
      • Children will start off at a town. Children will have to locate different places like "Shopping", "Home", "Garden" and "School". In each location, he/she has to finish a simple task. These tasks will teach them on the ways they can help the environment. There will be a health bar of the earth. Each right or wrong question answered will affect the health bar.
      • After they are done, the town mayor will award them a special certificate. They can then print out the certificate for his/her own interest.
    19. IDEA #02
      • Game Question
      • Turn off the lights when not in use, put small appliances and computer equipment on surge protectors and turn them off when not in use because even when off, they use energy.
      • Use cloth napkins (you can get cheap ones from ikea or even goodwill) and throw them in the wash with your towels rather than using paper napkins.
      • Avoid products with a lot of packaging. Preventing waste from being created in the first place means that there is less energy wasted and fewer resources consumed.
      • Plant a tree. A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
      • Turn off electronic devices when not in use. Simply turning off your TV, VCR, computer and other electronic devices can save each household thousand of pounds of carbon dioxide each year.
