QUALITY ASSURANCE Quality - Degree of excellence and assurance - Formal guarantee of a degree of excellence - Gives people with different functions in the organization a common language for improvement - Exists to the degree that service is efficient, well-executed, effective, appropriate and meets costumer’s satisfaction.
  4. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE Assurance - Achieving a sense of accomplishment - Implies a guarantee of excellence
  5. 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE - Process of evaluation that is applied to the health care system and the provision of health care services by health workers - Promotes collegial and sharing relationships among workers instead of a feeling of threat when observed and evaluated.
  6. 6. Primary purpose is to measure and improve the quality of nursing delivered in the agency
  7. 7. Quality of care - Degree to which health services for individuals and population increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge.

  14. 14. Process approach Includes the steps in the nursing process in compliance with established standards of nursing practice.
  15. 15. Outcome approach Identifies desirable changes in the patients health status such as modification of symptoms, signs, knowledge, attitudes and satisfaction, skill, level, and compliance with the regimen.
