  • 4. So we can say that Linus is the father of Linux, though not biologically.. :D

So what exactly is Linux..? • Linux is a kernel. • Any operating system that is based on Linux kernel is termed as Linux. • So that is why in market, there are several Linux based Operating system that are out into the market. • Ubuntu, Fedora, Red-Hat, OpenSuse, Gentoo, Mint, and on and on and on…

So where all is Linux used..? • Predominantly known for its use in servers • Supported by corporations such as Dell, Hewlett- Packard, IBM, Novell, Oracle Corporation, Red Hat, and Sun Microsystems, Google • Used as an operating system for a wide variety of computer hardware, including desktop computers, supercomputers, video game systems, such as the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, several arcade games, and embedded devices such as mobile phones (Android), routers, wristwatches, and stage lighting systems
  • 12. Linux is predominantly used by all Software Giants like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Valve, and so on as their servers. So what exactly is a server..?
