Heres to getting your doubts clearedAuthor : iFast ContentUnder the Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme (RGESS), an entire gamut of listed publicsector companies have been thrown open for investing. Unfortunately, investors are not surewhich companies these are. Here we aim to provide clarity on that front.With the aim of nudging public sector enterprises (PSEs) towards profitability, the governmentgrants certain financial and operational autonomy in degrees. Depending on variousparameters, such as the average annual turnover over the past three years along with net profitand net worth, the PSEs are eligible for enhanced delegated powers in certain areas. A commonexample, for instance, would be capital expenditure up to a limit not requiring governmentapproval.These PSEs are further categorised into sub-categories: Maharatna, Navratna and Miniratna.According to the Department of Public Enterprises, here are the companies that fall into thevarious categories as on February 2013.Maharatna 1.
