  • 1. Chronic pancreatitis, all you need to know
Pancreatitis is basically the inflammation of the pancreas, which occurs when the digestive enzymes that your pancreas produce, gets activated shortly. During Chronic pancreatitis the digestive enzymes gets activated while still in the pancreas, causing pancreas inflammation and revealing the signs and symptoms of pancreatitis.
The continuous and repeated bouts of an acute pancreatitis, damages the pancreas and leads to chronic pancreatitis. Chronic pancreatitis is a progressive inflammatory disease which affects the pancreas and leads to deterioration of the structure and function of the pancreas. Long term alcohol abuse is held as one of the most common causes of pancreatitis. However, congenital conditions, a blocked or narrowed pancreatic duct, cystic fibrosis, and even some drugs are also held responsible for chronic pancreatitis.
Symptoms of chronic pancreatitis: Acute pain in the upper abdomen and severe back pain accompanied with nausea and vomiting are the main symptoms which develop during the early stage of this disease. However, patients might develop symptoms like weightless, malnutrition, and even insulin dependent diabetes as pancreatitis becomes more chronic. The abdominal pain during pancreatitis is usually an acute and dull pain which further worsens with eating food or with alcohol drinking, however subsides while leaning forward or when seated. When a relatively larger area is damaged due to chronic pancreatitis, then the organ fails to produce enough enzymes and the enzymes also fails to reach the intestine. As a result bowel movement becomes frequent. Due to chronic pancreatitis when the pancreas could not produce the hormone insulin, then the symptom of diabetes mellitus might develop. The symptoms include increased thirst, appetite and urination, increased fatigue and weight loss.
Treatment of chronic pancreatitis: The treatment of chronic pancreatic is supportive in most of the cases as acute pancreatitis generally gets better on its own, unless there are any other severities. The best treatment for Chronic pancreatitis is to allow the pancreas to rest fully hence the popular treatment process involves intravenous feeding, suctioning out the stomach acids and regular anti body injection to keep infection at bay, administration of Ms Contin to keep pain and discomfort in control and administration of valium 5 as a mild tranquilizer. Surgery usually becomes necessary when complications like gallstone, infection, bleeding, cyst or tissue damage occur. Browse through http://www.biotherapy-clinic.com to know more
