  2. 2.  When a pointed is stated by a deliberate roundabout way, rather than directly.  Often the purpose is to cushion the painful and embarrassing effect.  Adding more words than necessary in order “beat around the bush”
  3. 3.  Someone died = They passed away / They took the big sleep  They were misbehaving = They were behaving in an unseemly manner  You did poorly = Your test results were less than acceptable
