  • The Cold WarThe Cold War (1946-1991) was a continuingstate of political conflict, military tension,and economic competition between theCommunist World (Soviet Union, satellitestates and Allies) and the Western World
  •  Satellite State- Is a small country controlled by a more powerful country Iron Curtain- The Iron Curtain is symbolic of the line dividing East and Western Europe during the Cold War. Winston Churchill created the terms after the building of the Berlin Wall Containment- To keep communism contained within its existing borders Berlin Airlift- The Allies action to carry food and supplies to people in West Berlin Truman Doctrine- The policy stated that the U.S. would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid to prevent their falling into Soviet domination Marshall Plan- Is an American program to aid Europe where the U.S gave support to help rebuild European economies in order to combat the spread the Soviet communism Communism- A political, socail, economic system where the government controls everything
