  3. 3. Age Due to the latest trends of the music industry as well fashion, lifestyle etc. we have decided that our band would suit the target audience of late teens to early 20’s as the music genre consists of electronic synths and up beat rhythms which are popular with this age segment.
  4. 4. Gender With this style of song a specific gender is not relevant as the style of the music is a mixture of pop, electronic and alternative genres, of which all appeal to a male and female audience. Therefore we will aim to base the selected song towards a male and female listeners.
  5. 5. Social Class Again, this is similar to the slide associated with Gender as there is no specific social class divide with this song. The mixture of genres appeal to most classes, therefore a wider target audience.

The JICNARS Scale A – Higher management/ administration/professional B – Middle management/administration/Professional C1 – Supervisory/clerical/junior management C2 – Skilled Manual D – Semi and unskilled manual E – Subsistence Income/pensioners/widows So, our song will therefore be based at all of these socio-economic groups maximizing the most of our views and listeners.

Lifestyle We thought the most relevant lifestyle that focuses around the selected song would be a rebellious one due to the fact that the music if very unique to others and doesn’t relate to any common stereotypes. In other words, the band do not care about a star image but want to be different.
  8. 8. Geographical Area Our target audience will only be based within the UK. We had made this decision as this variety of genres within the song is mostly listened to in the UK as the alternative and electronic genre are in the top 5 of most popular unlike in the USA where Rock, Hip-Hop and Pop are the most popular.
  9. 9. Overall, our target market will be Niche.
