Cells All living things are made up of  cells .
Genetic Code All living things are based on a universal genetic code.
Adapt All living things have the ability to  adapt  to their surroundings.
Respond All living things  respond  to the environment around them.
All living things need  oxygen  in order to survive.
All living things use  energy .
Reproduce All living things  reproduce   to ensure survival of their species.
Minor Characteristics of Life
All living things get larger or  grow . Grow
Repair All living things have the ability to  repair  themselves if injured.
Ingest All living things take in nutrients or  ingest .
Move All living things change positions or  move .
Excrete All living things must get rid of wastes or  EXCRETE .
Digest All living things must break down their food to get the nutrients out of it.  This is the process of digestion.
All living things maintain a stable internal environment .
