      • James, Jesus’ brother
    4. 54 He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers? 55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers , James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And His sisters , are they not with us?... Matthew 13

      Jesus Had Siblings!

      • It is the first N.T. book written
      • Its focus on personal application
    16. What is the Message of the Book?
      • Faith in God should result in behavior that is in harmony with God's will.
      • The life of faith is a life of peril.
      Two Affirmations
      • We must challenge the spirit of the world.
      • We must deny the lusts of the flesh.
      • We must resist the devil.
    17. God will not provide for you Serve yourself Grab all you can get Money (Ch. 5) God will not defend you Assert yourself Demand your rights Conflicts (Ch. 4) God has abandoned you. Glorify yourself. Promote yourself Speech (Ch. 3) God is withholding something from you. Love yourself. Favor those who can help you. Favoritism (Ch. 2) God hates you Indulge yourself Avoid them Trials (Ch. 1) The Devil says: The Flesh says: The World says: With Regard to
      • The life of faith is a life of power .

      • It is stubborn against the attacks of the devil.
