Not So Random Thoughts After A Breakup #3: Casual and Reckless Behavior
1. Not So Random Thoughts After A Breakup #3: Casual and
Reckless Behavior
You Have a Right to be Reckless
It is OK to be depressed and reckless after a breakup. If you walked around with a smile on all the
time you are likely to have a breakdown in the middle of the supermarket, which is hard to live
down. So be sad, go on awkward dates, and flirt around. But beware; when you are drifting around
be sure not to let others get caught in your wake.
Casual Dating: Rough Waters
You have decided to enter the lovely and confusing waters of casual dating. This can be a lot of fun
and just what you need to distract yourself and get some self-confidence back. You do have to be
careful not to develop feelings for someone while swimming in these waters; it can be easy to be
taken by the current. Trust that these feelings are probably not real and do your best to swim away
from them. Remember you are here to be causal and reckless.
It is Hardly Ever Casual
Here is the problem with this type of response after a breakup. It simply isn't meant for everyone.
Ultimately this is truly only a distraction and you can feel pretty empty when it is time to get out and
dry off. Another potential downfall is that you may not realize that some people are not there for
casual fun. Since you are being reckless you are probably oblivious to the fact that someone may
have genuine feelings for you and you may end up dragging that person into deep waters which isn't
fair. So have fun, but do your best to be considerate. Yes you have a right to be depressed and a
little reckless but don't be a jackass.
Remember, no running by the pool!
