Tribal learning isn’t new, but with virtual and social learning solutions the medium of sharing and the way we are learning have changed. Sharing/learning is no longer restricted to the gathering of a physical few around a campfire. Instead the gathering is open to many regardless of geographic location. Enterprise learning typical speaks to, “here is what you need to know, and now do what others want you to do.” The socially connected lives we now lead in the 21st century support a tribal learning model driven by intrinsic motivation of individuals to learn what they want to know when they want to learn it.
