Attend this session and hear how HP Enterprise Services (HPES) upgraded a major, multi-tenant HP ServiceCenter 6.2 system to HP Service Manager 7.11. You will learn how HPES, the largest HP ServiceCenter customer in the world, in the course of this upgrade, developed an efficient and effective, low risk, repeatable process for migrating a customer environment from a legacy system to a new HP Service Manager 7.11 instance. To reduce risk, the Regional Delivery organizations requested a staggered migration across the population of client companies rather than a one-time upgrade against the in-place production system. You’ll hear how Enterprise HPES met this need by installing a clean copy of SM 7.11 containing internal system data; migrating shared and common data from the in-place SC 6.2 production system once; and then migrating groups of individual client company data over time as defined by the delivery organization. And we’ll explain how, to accomplish the migrations quickly, the data was transferred using an Oracle database link and PL/SQL code. As an example, all data for one group of 178 client customers was migrated in 2.5 hours.
