  • 2. Things are getting bolder, sexier and spicier with America’s favorite bottled sauce. A1 steak sauce is going polyamorous. Slide by: Howard Davidson, Arlington, MA
  • 3. Steak and A1 have been in a committed relationship since the 60s but it looks like things are coming to an end. Or as the new ad playfully shows, the relationship gotten complicated. Riffing off of the “Facebook official” style of modern relationships, A1 is seen in a new spot flirting and cavorting online with all types of gustatory partners: fish, tofu, meatballs, crab legs etc. Steak seems jealous and hurt that A1 has decided to see other foods, but the food consuming public is really the one who benefits from this campaign, right?   • 4. I take this as great news. Cottage cheese and BBQ sauce? Steak sauce and asparagus? Why not? Anything goes as far as breaking the natural laws of steak consumption. I guess this is a little bit of a throwback for A1, because when they launched all the way back in the 19th century the labels read for ‘international’ and ‘general use’. Who says the older generations weren’t more open minded? A1’s new campaign really plays up the mad food scientist in us all with steak sauce lovers getting into almost taboo territory. They seem to be latching on to that word almost; you can do almost anything with their steak sauce. But I say why not just flout the newfound freedom of sauce and food combinations?
