In looking forward to the future of hotel design and innovation it is useful to also look backwards

Over the past 200 years the design of hotels has changed significantly as different trends have emerged globally

With the accompanying ‘key industry events’ presentation, this is intended to show where we have come from

We have chosen some notable hotels opened over the past two centuries as stimulus for further discussion

The 134 hotels selected run from 1822 through to 2013

Hotel 2030 is a cross-sector platform that aims to act as a catalyst for open discussion on the possible changes facing the hospitality industry and associated innovation opportunities for hotels over the next 15 to 20 years.

Starting with the initial perspectives drawn from a number of studies already undertaken by varied companies and academics, the intent is that interested organizations around the world will use this material to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, add their own views and collectively co-create a richer, deeper dialogue of possible futures in the hospitality sector.
