Slide 3: The Icon On May 5, 1900, Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey was founded. After operating for 86 years, it was suddenly shut down on May 9, 1986. One of the most important buildings, due to its history and the technological development it represented, is Horno Alto No. 3 (Blast Furnace #3), which was named Industrial Archaeological Site during 2001.
Slide 4: Museo del Acero, horno3 Development is based on Education Productive development is based on Scientific and Technological Education Museo del Acero, horno³ is a not-for-profit science and technology center. Unique in the world and located in the restored structure of the first steel plant in Latin America: “Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey”, whose production activities ended in 1986. horno³ provides multiple interactive areas that enforce scientific and technological education, commemorating the history of steel and its industrial development, hence recreating the siderurgical process. Slide 10: The Blast Furnace Show Watch the “sleeping giant” come roaring back to life. Watch melted iron spill from the furnace in this special-effects experience.
Slide 11: Elevator The original elevator that transported materials to the top of the furnace. Now it´s a panoramic ride taking you up to 40 meters to the “catwalk” adventure.

In addition, the facility includes a number of auxiliary spaces: ticketing center, “El Lingote” Restaurant, gift shop, outdoor demo theater and a temporary exhibit space.
