2. Timeline
As we face the future and the “uncertainty” that accompanies
it, we find comfort, peace, and familularity in those things
from our past. Historical references will influence color,
fabric, print, and pattern this Spring 2010. The consumer
will cherish, with love, objects that brought her comfort from
a day gone by, resulting in a sense of “fragility,” and a
precious sense of being.
As she enters a new day, uncertain colors are beautiful,
dusted with a gentle powder, and fabrics are fragile.
Evoking a perishable feeling with the times, both are
importantly fused with a new spirit and energy, that is our
hope, a bold optimum.
We will see it in unexpected combinations, parings, and
innovations. Most importantly, technology impacts what
is “old vintage” with high impact such as shine, shimmer, and fabrics.
The modern consumer seeks comfort and newness.
The retailer must inspire her to spend with cutting-edge
“everything.” Do not underestimate her. From sequins for day,
to social media by night, ShopNBC is going to lead.
