  • 2. TIDES Tides are caused when the moon and or sun’s gravity pulls the water because of gravity. The water is pulled one way but the spin of the Earth makes high tides on the opposite side of the Earth too. The Moon as more effect on tides because it is closer. The side that isn’t being pulled gets a low tide because it has less water, most is being pulled.
  • 3. EFFECTS Tides can effect fisherman and fish. The fish may change their movements based on the tides and fisherman can be highly affected based on how much of a tidal change there is. It also affects animals that may be stuck in tide pools. Some people have to build their houses on stilts so that the water doesn’t get all of the way up to their house in storms and high tides ect.
  • 4. TIDAL ENERGY For tidal energy we basically just put a big turbine in the water and let the tides spin them to make energy.
  • 5. SPRING AND NEAP TIDES Spring tides are when the Sun and Moon work together to make the high tides really high. Neap tide are when they are against each other and make the high tides lower.
  • 6. DIURNAL AND SEMIDIURNAL TIDES Diurnal tides are when a place gets only one high tide per day because the opposite side of the Earth from that place is land. A semidiurnal tide is when a place gets 2 high and 2 low tides per day. This happens because there is water on the opposite side of the Earth to that spot.
