Slide 1: MarcOnt X Agent Introduction to the concept of automatic suggestions to the ontology. Slide 2: Outline Questions to be answered in next 10 min: • What problems do we come across while developing ontologies? • What is MarcOntX and how does it work? • What problems are to be solved in the future? 2

Slide 3: Ontology development (1) Group of people reaches the agreement on the semantic description of a part from ‘real’ life. The wider the domain is the more fierce the discussion are. . 3

Slide 4: Ontology development (2) Second approach of the ontology development is automatic machine learning. We provide multiple data and use learning methods to extract knowledge from them. 4

Slide 5: Problems • What if we want to incorporate a part of external ontology? • What should we do when our domain is very data- intensive and it is almost impossible to cover it only by collaborative means? 5

Slide 6: Solution (1) • A man can do this, but often it is not the most efficient way…. 6

Slide 7: Solution (2) Other solution is to automate this processes, and here the idea of MarcOntX agent was born. It is a tool, that supports easy integration of the ontology with an external one. Thanks to the fact, that MarcOntX is automatic and fast, we save time and are closer to success! 7

Slide 8: How does it work? • MarcOnt Portal – collaborative ontology development 8

Slide 9: How does it work (2) • JeromeDL users can add new items to the library, described with MarcOnt ontology concepts, or with new concepts they find necessary which do not exist in MarcOnt ontology. 9

Slide 10: How does it work (3) • Ontology learning 10

Slide 11: Problems to solve in the future • Should every single change be turned into a suggestion? That could flood as with suggestions. • How to evaluate the quality of suggestion? 11

Slide 12: Epilogue The idea is ready, now we only need to implement it. 12
