    Grasslands: lacking in trees

    Steppes: shallow-rooted grasses
    Western portion of the Black Sea eastward beyond Lake Balkash.
    Kyrgyz Steppe; patches can also be found in Manchuria and the Ordos Desert in East Asia
    Prairies: tall and deep-rooted grasses
    Located on the northern side of the Russian steppes and in Manchuria
    Savannas: mingling of forests and grasslands
    Found in Southeast Asia and the African continent

    In Russia, it means marshy pine forest
    Coniferous
    Usually located in areas south of tundras and north of grasslands
