Success 101 is designed to help young people deal with the two major tasks of adolescence: establishing and consolidating their identity and deciding what they want to do with their lives.

8 th Grade Registration
Parents receive materials from 8th grade schools
Counselors visit schools to register students (no parent appointments)
Counselors take registrations back to high schools to be entered into computer database
Site Math & English Facilitators place students based on CST scores, teacher recommendations, & mastery tests.
Master Schedule of classes is based on requests
Feeder schools receive Math & English placements to verify
Students get schedules at walk-through in August
Students receive official schedules first day of school

NCAA ELIGIBILITY
DIVISION I
16 Core Courses
4 years of English.
3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher).
2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab if offered by high school).
1 year of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science.
2 years of social science.
4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or comparative religion/philosophy).
DIVISION II (2013 and After)
16 Core Courses
3 years of English.
2 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher).
2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab if offered by high school).
3 years of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science.
2 years of social science.
4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or comparative religion/philosophy).

Student Attendance
HJUHSD requires 90 percent attendance each year for students to participate in graduation ceremonies.
The 90 percent attendance rule means that students cannot miss more than 18 days of school per year.
Student absences because of illness, doctor’s appointments or other medical reasons will not count against the 90 percent requirement if cleared by a note from the doctor’s office.

Off Campus Eligibility Criteria
Students will have:
No more than 12 total tardies per semester
90% attendance
No more than 15 discipline points or major violations resulting in a 5 day suspension
The minimum number of units completed for graduation
No violations in the Citizenship Policy (2 U’s, 2 F’s, below a 2.0 G.P.A)

Freshman "Husky" checklist Know your high school graduation requirements • Prepare for the High School Exit Exam given during your sophomore year by building strong academic skills in language and mathematics. • Maintain grades. Nothing below a C in the A-G classes 9th grade – 12th grades. A “D or F” will need to be repeated in Unit Recovery. • Get involved! Opportunities available in clubs, church, sports, fine arts and academics. You can join a club at any time! • Visit & get to know collegeboard.com • Start a resume NOW and document your activities for (sports, clubs, church, band, choir…) • Take the PSAT (practice SAT) and/or PLAN (interest inventory & practice ACT) next year. Both are college testing requirements. • Use the “Career Cruising” to research your interest areas and careers you are interested in. • Start creating your “10 year plan ” • Begin visiting local colleges. • Know where the Career Center is! • Stay in contact with your counselor!
