• Brown brought his provisional army
• Announced his intentions
• Said if anyone interfered he would burn the town
and kill everyone in it.

3. Uprising
• Had to arm slaves
• Backfired and drew Lt. Col. Robert E. Lee and his
men.
• Lee broke down the door and captured Brown.

4. Trial
• Brown was tried am convicted of all of his crimes.
• Hung at the gallows.
