WHY WE EXIST• Needed to map individual plant species over large areas in Hawaii• Could not use existing satellite data • Clouds • Topography • Automated image analysis was not effective (spectral separation) • Resolution (spectral and horizontal ground)• Attempted contracting aerial imagery providers from off island • Costly • Not resolute enough• Had to develop our own unique platform
WHAT WE PRODUCE• Natural color ortho imagery from 1m to an unprecedented 1cm ground resolution• NIR ortho imagery from 1m to 4cm ground resolution• Large scale thermal imaging• Image analysis and solutions based products
NUEVO UNIQUE IMAGE ACQUISITION SYSTEM• Custom platform co-developed with Icaros Inc.• Multi sensor package that can combine RGB, NIR, and Thermal sensor in one data collect• Custom processing software and methods that combine speed and accuracy for high quality products
WHAT WE’VE BEEN DOING• Most of our efforts have been focused on weed detection, mapping, and monitoring. • Over large landscapes (ex: 1000 to 20,000 acres) • Mapping and tracking individual plants over time • Develop species specific analysis models• Some forest characterization through plot based analysis• Monitoring invasive algae removal • Maunalua Bay restoration
