  3. 3. The most consistently effective way of promoting interest is by increasing student involvement<br />
  4. 4. Student involvement:<br />Give students the chance to:<br />Participate.<br />Experience a sense of autonomy <br />Control and Self-determination <br />
  5. 5. Open-ended questions virtually ensure success, which increases students’ inclination to be involved.<br />Their ability to be successful leads to a second important factor in motivation self-efficacy.<br />
  6. 6. Increasing Self-Efficacy<br />Expectancy-value theories of motivation suggest that learner are motivated to work on a task to extent that they:<br />Expect to succeed on the task.<br />Value the task.<br />
  7. 7. What is self-efficacy?<br />Learners’ beliefs about their capability of succeeding in specific activities.<br />Combining high expectation for success with emphasis on thinking and understanding can be very effective for increasing learner motivation.<br />
