      • Understand how it works
      • Use a microphone for large groups
      • Mouth Proximity to Microphone
      • Attached or Cordless Microphones
      • Handheld Microphones
      • Practice using the Microphones
    5. How to Effectively Use Flip Charts
      • Ideal for small groups of 20 or less
      • Use thick colour markers.Use 2-4 colours
      • Brainstorming pts –use 2 colours
      • Letters – 2-4 inches tall. Use Upper & lower case
      • You can prepare charts in advance – light pencil
      • Use top ¾ of the whole page
      • Max 4-6 words per line & max 4-6 lines p/page

      • Hand Gestures
        • Hands at your sides if you’re not gesturing or rest one hand over the other at waist level
        • Use firm, flowing gestures
        • Avoid repetitive gestures. Vary them to emphasis key points
        • Keep palms open and fingers close
        • Do not use single fingers to point or gesture
        • Get rid of your distracting gestures e.g. : clapping hands, scratching nose

      • Posture
          • Basic standing posture: Place feet apart within shoulder width
          • Basic arms position: arms relaxed against your sides or rest one hand over the other at waist level
          • Position –Complete view of the entire audience
          • Keep your back straight and maintain an upright posture
          • Move purposefully. Move only if there is a reason
          • Refrain from speaking as you are moving to avoid loss eye contact and vocal projection
