  • A frequent, chronological publication ofpersonal thoughts and Web links.A blog is basically a journal that isavailable on the web. The activity ofupdating a blog is “blogging” and someonewho keeps a blog is a “blogger.
  • There are many webpages where you can createyour own Blog:
  • When starting your own blog, first decide what youwant to blog about. Choose something that you areinterested in and passionate about. Decide if youwant to host your blog yourself or if you want to usea hosting service. For those who are not Internetsavvy, a hosting service is usually the best option.
  • • Blog sites can be developed with the help of simple procedures.• A blog post goes public, in other words, it can be accessed andread by almost everyone who have an access to internet.• The usage of blogs are very convenient, hence people tend to usethem more frequently.• Students tend to improve their writing skills as blog articlesshould be reasonably good enough and free grammaticalmistakes.• Students get into the habit of writing, which helps them in alltheir future endeavors.• Blog sites used as online class forums enables students withvarious personalities to participate in a discussion far moreeffectively than they can otherwise.
  • • It involves a lot of time to update and post an entry on the blogsite• Regular writing may give rise to slangs and sloppy way ofwriting spoiling the quality of proper usage of language.• One major drawback is that not all information can be shared onblog sites. Hence may not be useful for everyone.• The need to have a computer may not be feasible for everyone.• Individuals and students may have reluctance is getting used tothe technological advancements.• Blogging cannot be trusted upon students who are hardlyinterested in reading and replying to the post.
  • There are numerous educational benefits of blogs.• Highly motivating to students, especially those who otherwisemight not become participants in classrooms.• Excellent opportunities for students to read and write.• Effective forums for collaboration and discussion.• Powerful tools to enable scaffolding learning or mentoring tooccur.
  • How do we use blogs in education?Blogs can serve at least four basic functions.1. Classroom Management2. Collaboration3. Discussions4. Student Portfolios
