Downloading an ePub to an eReader Downloading an ePub to an eReader Presentation Transcript

      • Start at http://plymouthlibrary.org
      • Click on “Download Audio Books & eBooks
      • Search by title, author, or subject
      • Or, we suggest using the “Advanced Search” link
      • Most e-book reader devices (Nook, Sony, Kobo, etc.) are compatible with the ePub format for e-books (some also play MP3 audio books)
      • Check the box next to “Only show titles with copies available” unless you want to place holds on copies currently checked out.
      • Click on the green Search box.
      • Find a book you want to check out
      • Click on “add to bookbag”
      • Continue Browsing or Proceed to Checkout
      • Choose your home library from the list of libraries. You must have a Plymouth District Library card to use our collection.
      • Enter your entire 14-digit library card number with no spaces.
      • Click on Login
      • Choose from either 7-day or 14-day checkout periods
      • Click on “Confirm check out”
      • Did you download the necessary software?
      • ePub titles require Adobe Digital Editions.
      • If you have the necessary software on your computer, click on the green “Download” button under the title.
      • Choose “Open.”
      • If you have any trouble, you can always go back and click on “Download” again and choose to “Save” the file to your hard drive.
      • If you use the “Save” method, you will need to “Add Item to Library” in Adobe Digital Editions using that software.
    • Wait while the title downloads…
      • The first time you do this, you will be prompted to “Authorize Device.”
      • Just click that button.
    • Once the device is authorized, click on “Finished.”
      • You can read the book here in Adobe Digital Editions
      • Or, to transfer it to an e-reader device, click on the “Library View” icon. It’s the picture of three books at the top, left-hand side of the screen.
    • (Click and drag from library to device)
      • If your device is properly connected to your computer, it will be listed under “Bookshelves” on the left side of the screen. Drag the title onto the device name as shown.
    • On the item’s due date, its license expires. The file is still on your e-reader device, but will no longer open. You need to delete it from your device. Connect the device to the computer and open Adobe Digital Editions. Click on the name of the device (here, it’s called “Media”)
Click on the little arrow to the left of the title. Click on “Delete Item.”
    • Did you finish the book before its due date?
Once you delete it from your device, click on “All Items” in the left menu. To the left of the title, click on the little arrow. Click on “Return Borrowed Item.” The title will disappear from the list, and also from your library card account in the MCLS web site.
