Ted talk Ted talk Presentation Transcript

  • John Bohannon: Dance vs. powerpoint, a modest proposalLavelle Mitchell
  • Thesis✤ In Mr. Bohannon’s presentation he proposed that maybe instead of wasting time doing power points that we should start using the arts to explain difficult information more specifically, dance.
  • Thesis✤ To prove how his thesis would work he used dancers through out his presentation.
  • You caught my attention!✤ The speaker did an amazing job at catching not just mine, but I believe the whole audiences attention by using dancers.
  • You caught my attention!✤ It may seem that having dancers in the background would distract you from the main point, but he was using them to his advantage.
  • The “Ted” Commandments✤ John Bohannon’s speech followed commandment number 4 the best: Thou Shalt Tell a Story
  • The “Ted” Commandments✤ Throughout his speech John used a story about a friend of his to captivate the audience and get his point across.
  • DYNAMISM✤ I would give John Bohannon a 4 in dynamism
  • DYNAMISM✤ He did a great job at catching everyones attention, but he needed to give more energy he kind of remained stagnant.
  • What Have I learned From Him?✤ John Bohannon has taught me to think more outside of the box.
  • What Have I learned From Him?✤ Being different and creative is a great way to capture the attention of your audience.
  • What Have I learned From Him?✤ Being unique also will make people listen. Especially if it’s something they have never seen or heard before.
  • Sir Ken Robinson vs. John Bohannon✤ One thing that Sir Ken Robinson had that John bohannon did not was that he engaged his audience more he made them interested by making them laugh.
  • Sir Ken Robinson vs. John Bohannon✤ John Bohannon’s speech had a lot more movement and things going on to catch the audiences attention.
  • Tips✤ From what I have seen in the TED talk that I watched I believe that when it comes to speeches doing more than what is asked can be beneficial.
  • Tips✤ Doing things outside of the box can get people to listen and it sticks with them a lot more than having to watch a person give a speech while sitting or standing in one place.
