1. 1. 4.6 Isosceles, Equilateral, & Right Triangles Objectives: - Use properties of isosceles, equilateral, and right triangles - HL – Hypotenuse Leg
 2. 2. Term Review

In a triangle with 2 sides of the same length, those 2 sides are called legs , and the 3rd side is called the base .

 3. 3. Base Angles Theorem

If 2 sides of a triangle are congruent, then the angles opposite them are congruent.

 4. 4. Converse of Base Angles Theorem

If 2 angles of a triangle are congruent, then the sides opposite them are congruent.

 5. 5. Corollary to Base Angles Theorem

If a triangle is equilateral, then it is equiangular.

 6. 6. Corollary to Converse of Base Angles Theorem

If a triangle is equiangular, then it is equilateral.

 7. 7. Find the value of x and y

What do we know about x?

x is an angle in an equilateral triangle. We know it is also . . .

Equiangular. So, 3x=180

x = 60

What do we know about y?

It is part of a linear pair

So, y = 180 - 60 = 120˚

x y
 8. 8. Hypotenuse-Leg Congruence Theorem

If the hypotenuse and a leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and a leg of a second right triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.

 9. 9. Do p. 239 2-7

Homework: Worksheets

Test . . .
