Installing Audacity At Home

  2. 2. Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net / and then click the download tab. Download the 1.3 series for Widows, (Or Mac if you are a Mac user.
  3. 4. Click Run
  4. 5. Click OK
  5. 6. Click Next >
  6. 7. Click I accept the agreement and Next >
  7. 8. Click Next >
  8. 9. Click Next >
  9. 10. Click Next > and Create a desktop icon
  10. 11. Click Install
  11. 12. Click Finish
  12. 13. Click OK
  13. 14. Go back to http://audacity.sourceforge.net / and then click the download tab. Click the Plug-Ins and Libraries link
  14. 15. Click LAME FAQ
  15. 16. Step 1 will have you click the LAME Downloader page which will bring you here. Find the download for your OS and save the file to your computer.
  16. 21. When you click the icon on the desktop for Audacity it will Direct you to an Audacity First Run. You will need a microphone to record an MP3. If you have a laptop it will most likely have one built in. If not they are an inexpensive purchase at Radio Shack, Target, or WalMart.
  17. 22. Click the red dot to record and the red square to stop.
  18. 30. You will also want to save the Audacity project. You cannot edit Mp3 files, but you can edit your Audacity track and then export again as an Mp3
