Tall grass Some species have adapted HUMAN ACTIVITY Almost uninhabited: some native People live close rives & work in agriculture Almost uninhabited: Nomads. TEMPERATE CLIMATES MEDITERRANEAN CONTINENTAL OCEANIC LOCATION Around mediterranean sea In Temperate zones in the northern hemisphere On the west coasts of temperate zones TEMPERATURES High in summer-mild in winter Vary greatly. Mild PRECIPITATION Not abundant: spring and autumn In summers: wetter on the coast than inland Abundant and regular LANDSCAPE Medidterranean forests Coniferous forests or Taigas (prairies and steppes) Deciduous forests & meadow LIFE Holm oaks & pine trees. Shrubs Bears , Reindeers and small mammals Changed a lot because humans HUMAN ACTIVITY Wheat fields, olive and fruits trees. People grow food and raise livestock in prairies Densely populated COLD CLIMATES POLAR ALPINE LOCATION Between the polar circles and the poles. In the highest mountain ranges. TEMPERATURES Winters: -20⁰C/-50⁰C summers: 10⁰C Low in winter & cool in summer. (change with altitude) PRECIPITATION Around: 300mm (snow) Abundant precipitation (snow in Winter) (change with altitude) LANDSCAPE Tundra Vegetation changes with altitude because temperaturas & precipitat. LIFE Few animals, such as seals & penguins Change from the sunny slopes to the shady slopes & with altitude HUMAN ACTIVITY Small groups of Sami & Inuits live in the Artic region.
