  3. 3. Heading-<br /> contains :<br />return address - is the address of the writer<br />the date –when the letter was written<br />The name of the writer is left out because is at the end of the letter.<br />A business letter usually contains the following parts:<br />
  4. 4. 2. inside address-<br /> has:<br /> the name of the person receiving the letter<br />Their address<br />
  5. 5. 3. Greeting or salutation-<br /> is the opening of the letter. <br />Capitalize the first word as well as any nouns (such as "Sir" or "Madam") and titles (such as "Mr." or "Director of Human Resources").<br />Has the recipient’s personal title (such as "Dr.") and last name. <br />The greeting of a business letter should be followed by a colon. (:)<br />
  6. 6. 4. body-<br />describes the purpose of the letter<br /> supporting details<br />clear and straight to the point<br />
  7. 7. 5. closing-<br /> marks the end of a letter. <br />there is a comma after the closing phrase <br />the first word in the closing is capitalized <br />include "Sincerely" and "Yours truly."<br />
  8. 8. 6. signature –<br />signed name of the writer (proves that the writer wrote the letter and makes the letter a bit more personal.)<br />
  9. 9. 7. typed name and title –<br />lets the reader know who exactly wrote the letter (just in case the signature isn't clear enough to read). <br />The writer should type his or her name and title (if he or she has a title). <br />
  10. 10. 8. enclosure notation-<br /> lets the reader know that something other than the letter is included in the envelope.<br />
