  • 2.  We have talked about…  A theory of human motivation, why we do what we do  Defense mechanisms to analyzed how we subconsciously cope.  Personality to recognize who we are.  Now we will take a look at our character and realize we need to take an ACTIVE role in developing our OWN character.
  • 3. Character is… The distinctive qualities that describe how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. The outward expression of your values
  • 4.  Values are the accepted principles or standards of a group or individual.  Standards that are important to an individual.
  • 5.  Trustworthiness  Respect  Responsibility  Fairness  Caring  Citizenship
  • 6.  Definition: You are honest, loyal, reliable, dependable, responsible, etc.
  • 7. You are considerate of others and accept their differences. You use good manners at all times. Respect Disrespect
  • 8. You play by the rules, take turns and share. You don’t cheat or take advantage of others.
  • 9. They are compassionate and kind. They forgiving of others and help others in need. Ex.
  • 10. You use self control and think before you act. People can count on you. How can you be responsible in your life right now?
  • 11. You help your environment be safe and healthy. You obey the rules and laws. You have respect for authority.
  • 12. Consistently showing your firm belief in your values through your actions and behaviors. Consistent Good Character NO MATTER WHATNO MATTER WHAT THE SITUATIONTHE SITUATION

  • 14.  You must value good character and believe it is important.  You must have enough respect for yourself and value yourself enough to want good character traits.  Think to yourself what good character is and be on board! Be your own biggest fan!
  • 15.  Trust worthiness  Respect  Citizenship  Responsibility  Fairness  Caring Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10
  • 16.  Identify what character traits you’d like to improve. Pick 3
  • 17.  For each trait you picked think of 2 things you can do to improve or develop that trait.  Write a paragraph or more in your notes about …  How you plan on meeting this goal  Why you think it will help you/why it’s important

  • 19. “A good name will shine forever.” Write one page about someone who you look up to. Write about why you look up to them. Think about their character as well as other reasons you look up to them. Draw their picture or something that reminds you of them on the back like a logo, picture, place, word . Then if you’re comfortable present to the class what you came up with and show your picture.
