  • 1. Extending the Life of Your Hearing Device For those who rely upon them, hearing devices provide a way to connect with the sounds of the world. If you are a regular hearing device user, you no doubt recognize the value of them and are eager to keep your hearing aids in good working order. With proper care, you can keep your hearing aids functioning as well as when theywere new.Cleaning – You should never use a chemical to clean any part ofhearing aid, nor should you use a saturated cloth. To clean yourhearing device, wipe it with a dry cloth or one that is only slightlydamp. If you use a damp cloth, take care not to allow any liquidto seep into the aid and dry it immediately after cleaning.Wax Removal – Wax can build up on your device and becomeparticularly stubborn as it accrues. To prevent this problem, usethe brush that came with your hearing device, a soft-bristledbrush similar to a petite bottle brush, and brush away the waxonce per week.Servicing – If you notice that your hearing device isn’t workingas well as it once did, don’t hold out on servicing the device. Takeyour device to your hear care professional and explain your issue. If you catch a problem early, you may be able to fix it more forless money than you would have to spend had you waited untilthe small problem grew into a bigger issue.
