  3. 4. “ Don’t take the law into your own hands, take them to court!” <ul><li>FL (2) & VA Lawsuits – strikes down individual mandate – refuse to stop implementation </li></ul><ul><li>FL (1) & MI and DC – concluded mandates were constitutional and could proceed </li></ul><ul><li>Next Stop: US Supreme Court (not anytime soon) </li></ul><ul><li>What to do now? </li></ul>
  4. 5. 2011 CHC Budget Results <ul><li>Overall - $400 million increase in Appropriations </li></ul><ul><li>Reduced base appropriations to $1.59 billion from $2.19 billion </li></ul><ul><li>Health Center Trust Fund - $1.0 billion for FY ‘12 </li></ul><ul><li>Total Funding $2.6 billion for FY ‘12 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>$600 million taken from Trust Fund to sure up existing appropriations ($2.19 billion) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>$250 million used for ARRA Funded Health Centers </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>FTCA, Across the board cuts and Supplemental funding to Cooperative Agreements </li></ul></ul><ul><li>About $60-92 million available for growth in FY ‘11 </li></ul>

  7. 8. 2011 What are the biggest challenges ??? <ul><li>More Pressure </li></ul><ul><li>Challenges </li></ul><ul><ul><li>To integrate with other providers (including other CHCs) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To coordinate patient care to assure continuity and full sharing of clinical data/information. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To coordinate service delivery and match capacity while linking patients with enabling services. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Re-engineering our health center operations (data and insurance focused) </li></ul></ul>
