  4. 4. __________________________________________________________________ The  drivers…..   •  >80% increase in health care expenditure ($12.1 billion 2002/03 to $21.8 billion 20017/18) for 3 conditions – cancer, CVD, diabetes •  >50% of potentially preventable hospitalisations associated with selected chronic conditions. •  >7 million Australians with at least one chronic condition (2004-05 National Health Survey – AIHW analysis)
